FLIGHTS: Getting here can be a bit of a game. Are cheap flights worth a two-hour drive? Or would you rather pay a bit more to get exactly where you’re going?
Gainesville has a teeny airport, but flights can be expensive. Otherwise, the airports in Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa have many more options and are a two-hour drive away. Also, consider checking out Allegiant Air or Frontier Airlines. The budget airlines offer affordable, non-stop flights into the Tampa and Orlando areas.

DOS AND DON’TS: DO look at the hotels at I-75 and Archer Road, particularly on the north side of Archer Road. DO NOT look at the hotels on SW 13th Street; it’s an unsavory neighborhood. DO rent a car or prepare to get an Uber or cab ride to the wedding if you stay by I-75. DO NOT book at The Lodge; it will be undergoing $10 million of renovations in April. DO check out AirBNB, VRBO or HomeAway if you want to avoid hotels all together.
